Nevada, Florida Hold Primaries
Sept. 1, 1998
Voters in Nevada and Florida had few surprises up their sleeves as they went to the polls Sept. 1. Neither candidate for Florida governor faced an opponent for their party's nomination. In Nevada, Rep. John Ensign (R) faced token opposition for the chance to topple incumbent Sen. Harry Reid (D) this fall, and Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones won a nine-way Democratic gubernatorial primary.
